The Beau Coop ‘Frankly’ zip shoe from Face Hunter:

We are super excited to introduce Beau Coop to the list of brands stocked at Good as Gold!

Basically Carrie Cooper is a shoe-cobbler-designer whizz kid, who, after training in Portugal under a gentleman who just happened to own the rights to produce shoes for Eley Kishimoto and Bernard Wilheim she got straight down to it and began designing for these brands, landing her um, foot, in the doorway of Alexander McQueen (RIP) who propositioned her to create his McQ x Puma sneaker collaborations.

Back in Oz she hooked up with the Ksubi lads who convinced her to turn her talents to their brand, which she did, until the whole Ksubi Financial Crisis wave hit…which is actually pretty good for us because…

Her own collection, under the moniker Beau Coop was born. Based around some nickname her mates coined for her at art school the range is modern minimalism at it’s best, with just enough features to keep each pair next level interesting, but also subtly directional enough to keep ‘em timeless too!

Her debut collection, ‘Fall, Stand and Deliver’ is available to check and pre-order online HERE, and we will totally let you know as soon as they drop for real in-store!

When the lovely Kelly Thompson posted on her facebook page that she was reading a new book by Jonathan Safron Foer I was super pumped. Safron Foer is one of my favourite writers, a novelist of whom I have actually been fairly obsessed with lately, having just finished ‘Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close’ (a devastating portrayal of a family sort of dealing with the fall-out of 9/11 -- but don’t worry, it’s not political at all) have preceeded that with ‘Everything is Illuminated’ and the accompanying movie version starring Elijah Wood and directed by Liev Shrieber. The English-translator slash Eastern Europen lethario in Kangol hats and matching Adidas tracksuits is freakin’ hilarious.

Anyway, the book at hand ‘Eating Animals’ is unlike either of these two novels; a factual account of the farming-for-food industry, precipitated by the imminent birth of his first child and Safron Foer questioning ‘what should I be feeding this little person that I am responsible for?’

Haven’t finished it yet, BUT so far all the witty quips and metaphors are intact, as is his use of the written word and printed page page to create more than just sentences. For example ,there’s a double page spread with a rectangular outline to illustrate the amount of space a battery hen lives within on average.

If you haven’t heard of Safron Foer yet, you should definitely pick up one of his novels, and why not start with his latest?

Acne Paper is a Scandanavian publication from the peeps behind Acne Jeans and all the other creative offshoots they have springing up around their initial jeans brand.

It’s printed on some seriously good thick newsprint stock, has relevant and interesting articles as well as photo shoots and art portfolios and sums up an issue around popular culture and creative arts quarterly.

Anywhere Anyhow is a book by two Georgian artists, Andro Wekua and Ketuta Alexi. It’s a collection of various collages. Andro Wekua mainly works in sculpture, film, painting and collage. Ketuta Alexi is a photographer.
This is their first collaboration.

IF WE’RE PIONEERS by Mark Borthwick (US)

Mark Borthwick is among the generation of photographers who in the ’90s broke through the conventions of fashion photography. Integrating elements of architecture and design, he knows how to turn a static photo into a performance. His work is about the movement of the model, and the serendipity of accidental clutter is as important to his images as the garments.

and last but not least: 

MAGENTA by Albert Oehlen (GER)

German artist Albert Oehlen is closely associated in the Cologne art scene and Junge Wilde movement along with contemporaries Martin Kippenberger and Werner Buttner, and founded “Liga zur Bekämpfung widersprüchlichen Verhaltens” (League against contradictory behaviour) in 1976. His works focuss exclusively on exposing art’s failures, successfully! Herewithin are 16 new paintings, not yet exhibited….

Australian publishers and-just-about-everything art and culture related, Monster Children, have released their 24th issue of the mag and we’ve got it in store now. A cult fashion/music/art/skate/lifestyle publication, people who have read it (which is probs most of you) love it, and people who haven’t don’t know what they’re missing.
