ANTIPODIUM…
Conceived in 2006 and raised between Shoreditch, East London and Fremantle, Western Australia, cult womenswear label ANT!PODiUM is the worldly love child of an unconventional design relationship.
A long distance affair between London-based Australian ex-pats Geoffrey J. Finch and Ashe Foster, and Fremantle-based Fenella Peacock, has resulted in a unique aesthetic that fuses irreverent humour with subverted classicism, unexpected contrasts and confident simplicity. With a compellingly modern and unaffected approach to fashion, ANT!PODiUM’s distinctively witty and wearable collections are the talk of the global village.
The label’s success is especially remarkable given that Finch, the 26 year old Creative Director and 2008 Qantas Spirit of Youth Award winner, is not formally trained. The son of a farmer and a dressmaker, he draws inspiration from his rural Queensland childhood, international adventures, style-heavy Shoreditch neighbourhood and especially from the collective of artists, musicians, writers and eccentrics that encircles ANT!PODiUM. His signature and the label’s modus operandi are underlined by ANT!PODiUM’s infamous ‘No Romance’ club nights which Finch curates with Modular Records’ DJ Bushpig…
